But it’s worth every single cent because the Ford Motor Company throws in an 80-amp charging wall box and the output improves from 426 to 563 horsepower. The extended-range battery, for example, is $10,000 on the work-oriented Pro, $7,000 on the XLT, XLT w. The survey also details a few options that will certainly interest upcoming owners. Level up to the SuperCrew XL with rear-wheel drive and the aforementioned powerplant, and you’re looking at $37,000. I am referring to the Ford Motor Company’s internal combustion F-150, which starts at $29,290 for the XL with the Regular Cab, rear-wheel drive, and 3.3-liter base V6 engine. There is, however, a collateral victim of this crazy price strategy. In addition to similar pricing to the Tesla Cybertruck, the F-150 Lightning also poses a problem for the Rivian R1T and the GMC Hummer EV pickups. The federal tax credit may balloon to $12,500 if new legislation is passed into law, which means the Pro and XLT will start from $27,474 or $40,474 in a matter of months unless the Blue Oval hikes up these MSRPs. The Pro is $39,974 or $32,474 after the federal tax credit, the XLT costs $52,974 or $45,474, the XLT w. It's so nice to have a semi-frivolous mentality about driving again.Published by our friends at the F-150 Gen 14 forum, the e-mail survey attached in the gallery breaks down the pricing very straightforward. I tested out a Shell DC fast charger just to make sure it works, and also used some free chargers at the courthouse and a district park just to see if they worked but other than that all of our miles so far are from off-grid solar. It's heavy as heck, so you don't get blown all over the road even when it's really gusting It was super easy to order a 3rd party bed cover and all weather matts. It's an F150 so there's plenty of aftermarket gear available. Typically it doesn’t draw extra attention until you start loading up the frunk. This truck is a low profile EV it blends right in so most folks don’t notice it's fancy-dancy electric. I always start the truck 15 mins before we leave to get the AC blasting and we are happier with the space and comfort of the backseat than we were in the 4runner. We have a 7 month old and do a lot of nursing in parking lots etc. It's great being able to run the AC and radio when we’re parked somewhere without having an gas engine idling. The lightning has all but replaced our two Toyotas, (4WD 2-door tacoma and a 5th gen 4runner) So far we haven’t put a mile on either Toyota since we got the lighting. It's a surprisingly functional family car. It’s also a handy flat workspace I have used for small projects and changing baby diapers. It’s big enough for medium grocery runs, and it’s super easy to keep clean and open and close, and the waist high access is very handy especially when loading heavy 5 gallon buckets of joint compound, bags of cement etc. The Lightning’s frunk is by far the most useful of any EV I have seen or used. Rivian and Tesla don’t seem to understand this. I don’t think I would want a sunroof without one. I love having a sun shade for the skylight. Regen game is impressive, coasting down my steep 2 mile road adds 5-6 miles of range.Īdaptive cruise control and lane centering seem to work perfectly, I never used cruise control much on other vehicles, but with this truck I use it all the time. For a vehicle this size and weight that’s amazing. I’m super impressed with the efficiency of this truck, even with KO2 all terrains I’m consistently getting 2mi/kwh or better. I often do a whole trip out without touching the brakes except to start up the truck and at the bottom of one extra steep hill. Ford’s one pedal driving calibration is fantastic.
